Woodland Photography on two different mediums

Canson Arches Aquarelle Rag Fine Art Paper

Fine Art prints are also known as Giclée prints. French printmaker Jack Duganne introduced these prints in the early 90s. Its name is a translation of the French verb giclée, which means to spray forth the liquid. This process refers to the inkjet printer that sprays ink on a medium.

The print you get uses Epson UltraChrome Pro pigments on premium cotton paper. Canson Arches Aquarelle Rag has a watercolour texture and a natural feel. Its grammage is 310 g/m2, and the glossy level is a deep matte.

Canson is a French company which manufactures Fine Art paper since 1557. Its founder is Jacques Montgolfier. The name Canson first appeared in 1801. Today, Canson uses a traditional cylinder mould process for its paper mills. It is the only paper company in France that does that.
One of the advantages of this process is that the paper comes closest to handmade paper. But without the disadvantages like defects and irregularities.

The prints are not framed and don’t have a white border.

Aluminium Dibond

Dibond, invented in the mid-60s, is a brand name for a rigid composite material. Today it belongs to the Swiss company 3A Composites.
Due to advancing technology, printing on Aluminium Dibond got possible in the 90s. The medium has since risen to the top of the list of materials coveted by artists. Both galleries and museums use Dibond to present works of art adequately. It is one of the most robust materials there is.

Two 3 mm thin, white-coated aluminium plates sandwich a black polyethene core. A 7-colour printing process with UV Fine Art inks makes the image durable.
Dibond is UV- and water-resistant and thus suitable for sheltered outdoor areas. It can also hang in the bathroom and the kitchen. The colours do not fade and remain for good.
The surface of the print is reflection-free and matte. Lighter areas have a slight shimmer.

How I calculate my prices

I charge about double the price of the photo lab to my collectors. Let’s say the print is €150. The Woodland Photography artwork then costs around €300. The price includes shipping costs, customs duties, gift vouchers, and creating art.
Shipping costs in Europe are around €20 to €40 plus customs duties. Gift vouchers cost about €10. The rest of the price goes to me.

Getting to locations, spending time in the field, and processing images, takes a lot of time. I sometimes come home empty-handed. Finding compositions, and getting the mood right, is time-consuming. I never know what I discover or don’t discover.
Furthermore, the costs and maintenance of the website come at a price, too. I do everything myself.

I can answer further questions. Let me know if there are any. I’m happy to help.

Partnership with Tree-Nation

I partnered with Tree-Nation. It is an organisation whose mission is to reforest the earth. Since its beginning in 2006, the cost of a tree has reduced considerably. Thanks to sponsors, the price fell from €50 to around €1. It is now easier to plant trees.
For every Woodland Photography you buy, you get a gift voucher from the company. With the gift voucher, you can plant ten trees.
To view the planting projects, visit Tree-Nation’s site.
